An excellent opportunity to join Atlantic Health Care, Morristown, NJ. We are seeking a full-time Pathologists' Assistant for our consolidated lab to join a team of 18 pathologists, 6 full-time PA's and biopsy technicians.
Under the direction of Board-Certified Pathologists, the Pathologists' Assistant will assist the Pathologist in the preparation and performance of all gross surgical examinations.
Essential functions:
- Assists in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen dissection by ensuring appropriate specimen accessioning
- Obtains pertinent clinical information and studies
- Ensures that surgical specimens are accurately accessioned
- Dictation and gross examination of simple and complex surgical specimens
- Prepares and submits tissue for histologic processing
- Obtains and submits specimens for additional analytic procedures (flow cytometry, IF, EM etc.)
- Assists in photographing gross specimens.
- Participates in quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Opportunity for assistance in post-mortem examinations
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Education Required
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program or related field required
- PA (ASCP) (Must be completed within first year of employment for new graduates)
Preferred experience and skills
- Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in Anatomic Pathology highly preferred, including surgical pathology, autopsy dissection, histology procedures/techniques, gross dissection of surgical specimens, frozen sections and postmortem examinations
