We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position for AdventHealthSouth Overland Park located in Overland Park, KS.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CEO, the CMOwill serve as facilitator, coordinator and liaison for all medical affairs. Will be responsible for regulatory compliance with respect to medical staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations. Oversees the credentialing process for the medical staff. Facilities communication and coordination between the medical staff and administration. Serves on the executive team and coordinates/collaborates with other senior executives to achieve organizational integration with respect to medical affairs and quality. The VP/CMO will champion clinical quality improvement.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop strong working relationships with physicians and staff that will enable establishment and implementation of quality care delivery strategies requiring cooperation and/or leadership of physicians.
Sense the need of those served and take initiative to optimize their experience at South Overland Park.
Serve as a liaison between the medical staff and hospital administration.
In combination with others in hospital administration, develop, improve, and maintain physician relations.
Lead in physician recruitment and retention strategies and activities.
Provides leadership for implementation of computerized medical records and supports and assists in training medical staff throughout the process.
Lead and participate in quality improvement processes aimed at driving highest level performance on CMS/Joint Commission quality assessments.
Work with physicians and staff through committee and individually to accept and utilize evidence-based “best practice” medicine tools.
Work with the Medical Staff Office to assist and orient new physicians to the hospital and its bylaws. Assist each provider in understanding the mission and vision of South Overland Park.
Work closely with the medical staff leadership to advise on issues related to credentials, policy and procedures, governance (bylaws and departmental rules and regulations), and medical staff management. Assist Chief of Staff, Chairman of Credentials Committee, and clinical department chairpersons in the oversight of medical staff credentialing and re-credentialing.
Oversee local CME activity, including oversight of presenters and assuring compliance with CME accreditation requirements.
Participate in all medical staff committees aimed at driving continuous improvement in the quality of patient care.
In collaboration with Clinical development, reviews clinical results and develops appropriate communication vehicles.
Help establish and maintain the direction of the clinical development program through strategic planning.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED:
MD or DO degree
5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience
10 years of active medical practice experience
Board Certification by ABMS in respective specialty
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Kansas
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE PREFERRED:
Experience on Medical Executive Committee
Experience in Clinic Practice Management
