Seeking a Medical Director for our Oncology Supportive Care & Survivorship program

The mission of the Dignity Health Cancer Institute is to create and sustain a best-in-class cancer treatment and clinical research program that produces good outcomes for patients, is efficient and effective, respects and includes our community partners and creates a desirable workplace for staff and faculty.  Our Oncology Programs continue to grow and have created the need to expand our Supportive Care and Survivorship Program (SC&SP).  Our program currently includes one physician, a social worker, a clinical dietician, PT and OT and a speech pathologist.  We are in the process of creating a Sexual Health After Cancer Service to add to the SC&SP offerings.  The general focus of the SC&SP is to improve the quality of life of our oncology patients by managing symptoms, such as fatigue and pain, in all stages of disease and treatment, including late and long-term side-effect management.  We are seeking a Medical Director to lead this Program which includes an inpatient oncology palliative consult service and outpatient clinic services.  This Medical Director will participate in the clinical care of patients (both inpatient and outpatient), tumor boards, teaching and patient safety and quality initiatives.  The Medical Director will also participate in the recruitment of 1-2 additional staff physicians for this Program. 

This physician will report to the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Oncology Physician Services (ACMO), or designee, and work collaboratively with the SC&S team members, the disease-site oncology multidisciplinary teams, hospitalists, the VP Oncology Services and administrative team members, and all other staff who support cancer patients and cancer services in the outpatient and inpatient settings.

Requirements:

• D. or D.O.
• AZ Medical License,
• Board certified in an appropriate specialty
• Willing to participate in teaching and clinical research activities
• Acceptable references from supervisor, peer, subordinate and a registered nurse
