The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and overall operational management of physician services and medical staff administration. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer to develop strategic plans, policies and address operational issues that build effective relationships between the hospital and its Medical Staff to produce excellence in clinical outcomes. Partners with the Chief Nursing Officer of each hospital to provide effective multidisciplinary approaches to clinical outcome management and environments of quality and safety. Additional responsibilities include establishing and implementing standards and policies within each hospital and across hospitals to ensure quality of medical care. This role works closely with the Group Chief Medical Officer and Centura CME to meet Centura operating group and system-wide strategies, goals, objectives and standards. Services as the primary community resource to all hospital communities and provides advice and counsel to Centura administrators on medical and administration matters related to medical practice and current affairs.
The Regional Medical Director is responsible to provide clinical and managerial health care leadership, problem-solve, communicate and strategically plan the development of the medical staff and clinic. The Regional Medical Director is also responsible to confirm compliance of medical staff with all state and federal requirements. The Regional Medical Director interacts with the corresponding Clinic Administrator and Assistant Administrator, the CHPG Chief Medical Officer, and the facility administration. Drives cost efficiencies across assigned region.
Important to this role is understanding the leadership expectations of this position and the entire leadership team throughout Centura Health. The CMO/RMD must have a personal and professional connection to the Mission of this Christian organization. What You Bring/Job Requirements
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Doctorate (Medicine - MD or DO) required
Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable state, required
Master's Degree in Business Administration / Healthcare Administration preferred.
Five years' experience in delivery of physician services and medical staff administration with proven success in progressive responsibility in healthcare leadership
Medical staff relations, quality measurement credentialing and previous medical management experience highly desirable
Knowledge of Joint Commission, managed care and health policy is essential with proven success in effective integration of medical management
Board certified in an approved clinical specialty required while in clinical practices
Strong track record of recruitment, retention of talent and leadership development.
Strong ability to lead in a changing environment.
Budgetary, P&L and Quality Assurance experience for a physician practice. Preferred affiliation with Centura for greater than one year.
