Position Information: Patient Account Representatives at WakeMed are often the first encounter with the community and are responsible for enhancing the patient and visitor experience through genuine hospitality, compassion and care. Assists patients and the health system with appointment scheduling, registration, way-finding, insurance authorization, electronic medical records and other front and back office management. Cross-trained to provide flexible staffing at various locations throughout physician practices, hospitals and our out-patient healthcare system to include Patient Access, ED Registration, Physician Practices, Rehab Patient Access and other similar positions. May work at multiple locations to cover during periods of high volume as well as vacations, vacancies and leaves of absence. This position requires great customer service skills including eye contact, smile, communication, confidence, courtesy and the ability to empathize with patients seeking health care services. Other critical skills include ability to multitask, perform accurate data entry, commit to service excellence, work effectively with a team, share in improving operations and take initiative. Individual is orally and in written form fluent in English and Spanish. All duties are performed either in English or Spanish, as required by the clients and departmental needs. Simple translation tasks and interpretation at the basic or intermediate level may be required.
Experience Requirements: 6 Months Customer Service Required - And 1 Year Healthcare And/Or Accounting/Finance - Third Party Payors Required
Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required - And Associate's Degree Business Administration Or Related Field Preferred
