Individual in this assignment typically works at Central Virginia VA Health Systems (CVVHS), Richmond, VA, and spends a majority of his/her time providing independent evaluation and treatment of patients in area assigned. S/he is expected to carry out duty assignments as an autonomous provider in an inpatient setting primarily in Spinal Cord Injury and Disease Service at CVVHS; but care may be required at other locations or levels of care across the continuum which include outpatient setting(s). MAJOR DUTIES: Responsible for the examination and treatment of patients referred for services as per the clinical direction of the Supervisor, Physical Therapy Section. Maintain timely data input utilizing care plans, initial assessments and/or specialty protocols as part of an ongoing process in coordination with other key interdisciplinary staff to provide effective patient care. Evaluate a wide variety of patients, interpreting consults from primary care physicians and evaluating patient's level of function, e.g. balance, muscle strength, range of motion, etc. using complex evaluation procedures. Plan and implement appropriate patient education program involving patient and family when feasible; documents education in chart. Provide orientation and training to a broad range of health care professionals and students on various aspects of Physical Therapy and rehabilitation. Maintain patient's records, statistics and reports required by the section/service. S/he is expected to carry out duty assignments as an autonomous provider in an inpatient setting primarily in (acute care) removed but replaced with Spinal Cord Injury and Disease Service at CVVHS. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Occasional Saturday Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
