Allied Health Instructor | Physical Therapist Assistant Program
Christiana Care is recruiting for an Allied Health Instructor for the Delaware Technical Community College Physical Therapist Assistant program. This position will primarily be located at the Delaware Technical and Community College Wilmington campus and also have an office at the ChristianaCare Riverside site.
The Allied Health Instructor will instruct and supervise Physical Therapist Assistant students in the didactic, laboratory and clinical phases of their education to prepare them for an Associate Degree in specialty as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
Provide didactic instruction and evaluation for students enrolled in the program
Provide instruction in skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed
Provide laboratory demonstration, instruction and pre-clinical evaluation for students
Provide clinical demonstration, instruction and evaluation for students as both formative feedback and terminal competency testing
Develop course outlines, objectives and evaluation tools that are consistent with accreditation requirements and college policy
Coordinate clinical rotations with affiliate clinical sites; communicate frequently in reference to student learning
Provide academic counseling as needed to students during all phases of the educational program
Participate in the Advisory Board, Admission Committee, faculty meetings and in-services as assigned
Maintain student records consistent with accreditation requirements, college policy, and hospital policy
Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Report to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Perform other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an A.P.T.A. approved school of Physical Therapy, or;
Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an A.P.T.A approved school, plus a BS in a related field required
Delaware licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist, or eligibility for Delaware licensure
At least three years of clinical experience
At least two years of CCCE and/or CI experience in a physical therapy setting or a minimum of two years of teaching experience that includes curriculum design and administration of an educational program
Credentials in specialty and in good standing with pertinent regulatory agencies.
